If you are desperately seeking Lenten reading, here's a list compiled by Amy Welborn from her readers. I've read many, but not most of the works. Now if only I had time to run to the bookstore!.

There's an excellent article on National Review Online, reflecting on abortion 30 years after Roe v. Wade. Do yourself a favor and read it.

I received this prayer via email the other day from Melissa Summach, who just happened upon this page. I pass it on because it is so wonderful:

"When I can no more stir my soul to move, and life is but the ashes of a fire; when I can but remember that my heart once used to live and love, long and aspire - wake in me...boundless desire" ~George MacDonald

Melissa comments, "What a prayer!!!!!" I heartily agree!

Back again in Ordinary Time. Which reminds of the album by Marie Bellet of the same name. I think her songs capture the whole idea that we grow in holiness by small choices everyday, not by grand achievements. Check out her website, buy her CD's. You won't be sorry!

Grace and Peace to all in the New Year! My resolutions for 2003: read the Bible more, eat less, smoke less.
Larry, I apologize for being so mean all those years ago!

I think I'm going to leave.
I spent the afternoon playing 'RISK' with Amanda, Emily, and Caroline. It was fascinating watching the ebb and flow of the game--and I reminisced about the game in which Larry was eliminated in about 15 minutes. Ah, fond memories!
Salve, Magister!
I have arrived.

I am interested in sharing books that I have duplicate copies of, or books that I have read and would like to pass on. If you have any books you want to share, check my list (under Book Swaps) and email me if you are interested. My list will grow--I can also post your list if you are interested.

Watching Midnight Mass from the Vatican, I am struck by how frail the Pope looks, but his dedication carries him on. What a great man, what a great Pope, he is! Merry Christmas to one and all! May Christ's peace reign in your hearts.
